There are no "hypno-miracles". That phrase was drilled into us during training. At the time, it seemed sort of silly, of course there aren't. Then you get into practice for a while and you begin to realize why they banged that particular drum so much.
Hypnosis is both fast and effective. But that turns out to be both a blessing and a curse.
It's a blessing in that clients often see measurable results after their first session. Smokers are usually quit after the first session, most phobics can easily overcome their fear and anxiety clients often sleep like a rock that night. But I will never recommend people leave it at that. At least one follow-up is always recommended.
It's a curse in that people regularly feel good enough after just one session that they decide they have gotten what they wanted and don't need to come back.
It took me a while to realize that when a client disappears, it's almost inevitably a good sign. I hear from them later on with a great story about how well they are doing, I start getting referrals from them or they post on social media about they aren't how they used to be. But it took a while for that to soak in and to realize they didn't schedule another because they felt they had already succeeded.
As I mentioned, I'd really like to see them one more time, just to drive the message home.
So, as a favor, if you aren't going to schedule again because things went that well, would you at least drop me a post card to let me know about your success? I'll add it to the pile.
